About the Program
Renowned new music composer Alvin Curran performs his latest live electronic work Shofar III. Based on an earlier piece that interprets the spiritually significant Hebrew letter Shin, Curran merges live performance on the Jewish shofar (a ritual horn) with a rich cacophony of sampled natural sounds, piano, synthesizers, computers, violin, percussion and more. Curran’s nearly 100 experimental compositions have been performed around the world, garnering numerous awards and critical acclaim.
